The Oganisation was found by the late Maria Rontho.Her vision was continued by  Sello Hopane who is also confied to a wheel chair.The centre was offcially opened in 18 February 2003 by Gauteng Provincial Government Department of Public Transport,roads and works MEC. Mr Khabisi Mosunkutu. Mme Maria as a physicaly challenged person  belived that disabled people were marginalised for too long on issues like acsses to buildings,education,sign language interpretation for the deaf and above all employment. So the disabled were viewed as helpless people yet were disadvantaged .   

Soshanguve self help association for people with disability (SOSHAD) has a motto``Nothing about us without us``in recognition of the disabled people to promote the human rights and developments of all South Africans with disabilities.

Investing in children with desablities is the key element in achieving long term,economical,social and environment development which we really need in our communities.At present the centre has day care facility for children who are mental and physical challenged,there are also youth male`s and female`s who are slow learners also assisted in the centre.
